Latha Mathavan Group of Institutions established in 1996 which is located at
Kidaripatti, Alagarkovil, Madurai, Tamilnadu – 625301, 25 Kilometers from Periyar and
just 2 Km from Alagarkovil. We feel very proud to share this, we are having DDU-GKY centre. It has been
running since 2019.

About Us

 

DeenDayalUpadhyayaGrameenKaushalyaYojana (DDU-GKY) targets to skill rural youth who are poor and provide them with jobs having regular monthly wages or above the minimum wages.

It is one of the cluster of initiatives of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India that seeks to encourage rural livelihoods.

It is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) – the Mission for poverty reduction called Aajeevika.

DDU-GKY is uniquely focused on rural youth between the ages of 15 and 35 years from poor families. As a part of the Skill India campaign, it plays an instrumental role in supporting the social and economic programs of the government like .

Over 180 million or 69% of the country’s youth population between the ages of 18 and 34 years, live in its rural areas. Of these, the bottom of the pyramid youth from poor families with no or marginal employment number about 55 million.

The National Policy for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship 2015 has identified a skills gap of 109.73 million in 24 key sectors by the year 2025.Various research in this field presents an unprecedented opportunity for India to train its youth population and place them in jobs across the world and realize its demographic dividend.

Latha Mathavan Group of Institutions being a Project Implementing Agency takes pride in partnering for the project to add value to the skilling ecosystem of DDU-GKY. As a partner we areenthusiastically undertaking the guidelines provided by Ministry of Rural Development and are at our best to provide the unsurpassed ever amenities to those rural unemployed youths under this placement linked training programs.

The university has state-of-art infrastructure to facilitate classroom training for the candidates in various trades like Automobile Service Technician and Sewing Machine Operator. Training is also imparted innon-domainareas to include IT, Soft skills and English too.

The classrooms are well equipped to take classes in a digital mode having the latest audio-visual aids.The training imparted is according to the syllabus as per SSC and day to day training is being done as per the activity-cum lesson-planner for sanctioned trades adhering to the guidelines of Ministry of Rural Development (Standard Operating Procedures).
